Recording artist Amiena joins the podcast to talk about defeating a creative rut, her latest release, the stories behind her lyrics, changing producers, touring and working with producer Lars Deutsch (the good, the bad and the ugly).
Amiena and I were introduced by producer Lars Deutsch, who was featured in episode 204 of the Unstarving Musician. At the time of this conversation, Amiena and Lars were looking forward to the release of a 4th single from her upcoming album. Her first three singles for the album include the songs Halo, Flare and The Great Escape. All three songs are fantastic, as are the videos that accompanied them.
Amiena and I also discuss the ups and downs of releasing singles, religion and her music, the revelation that she was in a creative rut and unhappy with her then recent recordings, the challenge of switching producers, and how making music feels at times a lot cheaper than hiring a professional therapist. Her professional therapist comment was said in jest of course. Nothing beats quality therapy when and where quality therapy is needed.
Please enjoy this conversation with Amiena.
