It is an abridged version of a prior episode, intended to hone in on something I found particularly interesting and worthy of repackaging.

This rewind comes from episode 226 of the podcast. Zack is also the featured guest of episode 149. He writes a great deal about the music business within the hip hop celebrity world. He says in the introduction of his forthcoming book, We Are All Musicians Now, "Artists are canaries in the coal mine of modern business, experiencing seismic tech disruptions years before those in other industries."

In this rewind edition of our conversation, Zack and I discuss the relationship between indie artists and fans, the rise of the super fan, NFTs, teachings from hip hop, and rising significance of intellectual property. While NFTs and intellectual property may seem a bit esoteric in the world of independent music, Zack relate them to not only independent music, but the possible futures of music and art.
